The details of the International festival of medieval battle "the Great Bolgar" 2017 released

The international festival of medieval battle "the Great Bolgar" will take place  in the Bolgar state historical and architectural open-air Museum, which is entered into the list of the UNESCO World heritage, on August 12-13, 2017. Russian and international clubs of historical reconstruction will attend the event. More than    38 000 spectators visited the battle in 2016, this year is expected that more than 40 000 guests will attend the event.

For the first time, the Festival is granted the international status due to the fact that the Grand Prix of Europe in historical medieval battle for 5 vs 5 battles with participation of the strongest clubs, many of whom are winners of the World Cup  2017 "the Battle of Nations" will be held as a part of the festival this year. Teams from Italy, France, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Belarus take part in the Grand Prix.

This year viewers will have two opportunities to observe what is happening on the Central tiltyard: from the open area in the South side of the battlefield (with minimal viewing angle) and from the stepped tribune in the North side. The capacity of the tribune is 920 people. The pass to the tribune is by ticket only.

Tickets can be purchased as for individual blocks of the program, so for the whole program. Tickets cost from 400 to 1000 roubles. Tickets are sold as for blocks of the program, so as a permanent ticket for 1 day. Children under 5 years can pass free of charge, provided that the child does not occupy a separate seat in the tribune.

At the festival site the archer and horse tournaments, mass battles "buhurts" and the Cup of the Dungeon for full-contact medieval fighting one vs one will take place.

The "Historical camp", the area of festival participants residence, where visitors will be admitted to the participants and will be able to watch qualifying matches in the format of 1x1, 3x3, 5x5 and see the household items of the Golden Horde, Russia and Europe will be opened. Excursion to the historical camp will become for sure the highlight of the festival, it will be available for organized groups that will be formed at the festival.

Everyone who wishes will be able to see analogues of middle age siege-guns and try to serve them on the war weapon site. "Medieval children's world" is waiting for children. Mazes made of hay and playgrounds will not leave anyone indifferent.

At the historic fair, festival guests will see a demonstration of medieval crafts by  leading Russian renovators and can purchase souvenirs at the folk artistic crafts fair and participate in various master classes.

Dance groups will teach people dances of medieval balls. The site "Medieval dance and music" will present live performances of folk groups.

In the evening the area of main festival site will appear before the audience in the light of the torches that will demonstrate a world of fire at the beautiful theatrical fire show "Fire tale" to viewers, who can enjoy a live performance of the folk group TEUFELSTANZ before the show.

For the convenience of festival participants and spectators, special bus tours from the cities of Kazan, Ulyanovsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Almetyevsk are orginized. This year tickets will be sold only by using online sale and then sale will end on August 10, 2017. The ticket price includes round-trip. Back  departure from Bolgar is on August, 12 (Saturday) at 22:00, August, 13 (Sunday) at 18.00. If you want to arrive on August, 12, and go back on August, 13, you should buy two tickets.
