Sergey Ivanov, Chairman of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the event “Unveil Latvia with AirBaltic”. Also, the participants of the event were Astra Kurme, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Russian Federation, Andrei Larchenko, Head Air Baltic Corporation Representative Office in Russia and CIS, representatives of Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia Tourism Department in Russia and municipal relevant agency of the city of Riga, as well as tour operators, providing tourists reception in the territory of Latvia. There have been presented tourism opportunities of Latvia and attention was paid to visa issues. Hereafter were held working sessions with all the participants of Latvian delegation.
In his welcoming speech, Sergey Ivanov once again stressed the importance of opening a new flight travel “Convenient transport logistics always increases prospects for tourism development. Therefore, having learned about potential opportunity for getting new carrier in our region, especially European one, we latched onto this idea. For us this flight is significant chance enhancing for better operation with the European market as well as opportunity for our tour operators. Today we are closely working with Germany, Finland and establishing more active contacts with Spain, France, Portugal, thus this carrier is very interesting for us. There was big competition among the Russian cities, where AirBaltic was supposed to come, and I’m very pleased that both Airline Company and Mrs. Ambassador personally, have invested plenty of efforts, and this carrier appeared in Kazan. This is great opportunity for us.”
