On the 15th of September, at 3 pm the Exhibition hall of Elabuga state reserve museum will open an exhibition from collections of the Sverdlovsk local history museum dedicated to the Nevyansk icon.
City Nevyansk, which grew out of a village at the metallurgical plant founded at the end of the XVII century, is the first mountain capital of the Demidov family. It was in the Urals, where disgraced people, especially Separatists escaped from the persecution of the authorities. In that place there was a large iconic center created its own harmonious style based on the best traditions of different Russian art schools.
Ural iconographic tradition is absolutely unique and closely connected to the historical legacy and industrial power of this Russian region. It is one of the regional symbols as well as the stonecutting and jewelry art, crafts casting of iron, Zlatoust steel engraving and painting of Nizhny Tagil.
