22 January 2025, Wednesday

At the final meeting of the Board of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism, the results of work for 2024 were summed up. According to forecast data, 4.4 million tourists visited Tatarstan in 2024, and the volume of services in the tourism sector and related industries exceeded the mark of 100 billion rubles. The key tasks for the further development of the tourism industry were also announced.

On January 21, a meeting of the final board of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism "On the results of the work of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism in 2024 and tasks for 2025" was held at the Ramada by Wyndham Kazan City Centre.

Sergey Ivanov, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, made a report at the board. He noted that 2024 has become a landmark year for the Republic of Tatarstan, marked by important events and initiatives that contribute to the development of the region and strengthen its position in the international arena.

One of the key events of the year was the BRICS Heads of State Summit in Kazan. This event brought together representatives from 36 countries, of which 24 were represented at the level of heads of state. The arrival of more than 5,000 members of official delegations was made possible by large–scale investments in the capital's infrastructure - over 25 billion rubles were invested in road development, landscaping and new facilities. Kazan hotels have also prepared for the reception of distinguished guests, having invested more than 1 billion rubles in the renovation and creation of presidential and luxury rooms, which made it possible to receive delegations at the highest level.

The completion of the activities of the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry" was another significant success. Over the 4 years of the implementation of the national project, 1.5 billion rubles of federal money have been allocated for the development of the tourism industry in the Republic of Tatarstan, and this is without taking into account the support provided to investors under the concessional lending program under Decree No. 141 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated February 9, 2021.

Special attention is paid to the interregional project "The Great Volga Way". A big breakthrough last year was the fact that three shipping companies from Tatarstan, Chuvashia and Nizhny Novgorod region received state support for the transportation of passengers along the Volga River on high-speed vessels. Together with the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, for the first time in history, a program to support inland river transportation, River Highways, has been adopted at the federal level. As part of the first stage of this project, 12 subsidized routes have been identified, with 48.8 million rubles allocated to support them.

The main goal in the field of tourism was also the penetration of new tourist markets and greater coverage of the regions of Russia. Promotional campaigns, introductory information tours for tour operators and journalists, participation in international exhibitions, among other things, contributed to an increase in the tourist flow in the Republic of Tatarstan by the projected figure of 5%. It is expected that the number of tourists visiting Tatarstan will reach 4.4 million people. The volume of services in the field of tourism, taking into account related industries, has already amounted to 97.6 billion rubles in the first 11 months of 2024. By the end of the year, this figure will exceed the mark of 100 billion rubles.

The main objectives outlined by the RT State Committee on Tourism for 2025 in the field of tourism are:

  1. Active participation in the new national project "Tourism and Hospitality" and provision of grant support to entrepreneurs for the development of tourism projects.
  2. Implementation of control and supervisory activities in the field of tourism. Since January 1 of this year, the regions have been granted such powers for the first time. With regard to accommodation facilities, control will be carried out over the availability of accommodation facilities in the unified register and the reliability of information about its type and category. In relation to guides, control is being introduced over the availability of certification and a badge when conducting excursions.
  3. The creation of tourist products in the regions of Tatarstan for visitors, as the traditional points of attraction – the Kremlin, the island-city of Sviyazhsk, Veliky Bolgar – are already well loaded with tourists.
  4. Increasing the interest of Tatarstan citizens in traveling around the republic. Today, the share of local tourist traffic to the main tourist centers of Tatarstan does not exceed 10-15%.
