The Republic of Tatarstan took the 3rd place in the Index of Tourist Attractiveness of Russian regions, developed on the basis of 50 indicators covering a wide range of topics, including infrastructure development and the region's online representation.
The Republic of Tatarstan took the 3rd place in the Index of tourist attractiveness of Russian regions after Moscow and Krasnodar Region, which took the 1st place, and St. Petersburg, which took the 2nd position. The index evaluates the attractiveness of Russian regions and helps travelers choose the best vacation destinations.
The index is based on a specially developed comprehensive methodology using a balanced set of indicators. These indicators cover a wide range of issues of importance to tourists, from the development of tourist accommodation infrastructure to the region's representation on social media.
The methodology used 50 indicators grouped into 6 thematic blocks:
- the scale of the tourism industry and the intensity of the tourist flow,
- infrastructure and resource availability of the region's tourism industry,
- objects of tourist interest and accessibility of recreation in the region,
- managing the tourist attractiveness of the region,
- Tourism safety and risk management,
- aspects of sustainable tourism development in the region.

The index is formed as an indicator of the development of domestic and inbound tourism, as well as the promotion of the tourism potential of the regions of Russia, and represents a ranking of the subjects of the Russian Federation by the level of tourist attractiveness.
