The Assumption Cathedral of the island-city Sviyazhsk in Tatarstan is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It became the 29th Russian object and the 3rd Tatarstan object, after the Kazan Kremlin and the Bulgarian Historical and Archaeological Complex, in the Honor Roll. It became known from the official Twitter of the world organization, which holds the 41st session in Krakow these days.
The nomination for discussion was presented by Susan Döyer, the expert of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) from the United Kingdom, who visited Sviyazhsk in August 2014 with an advisory mission. She briefly described the Assumption Cathedral and the monastery, told about the restoration work, and revealed the world universal value of the monastery complex: "In general, ICOMOS supports the nomination of the Assumption Monastery to be included in the World Heritage List".
