In 2024, air traffic in Tatarstan was actively developing: new flights appeared, which led to an increase in passenger traffic. The key factor is the partnership of Kazan International Airport with the North Wind Airline, aimed at expanding the route network and increasing the tourist attractiveness of the region.
In 2024, air traffic was actively developing in the Republic of Tatarstan, as evidenced by the presence of 97 routes, including 52 domestic and 45 international destinations.
The total number of passengers served during the year through the three airports of the republic amounted to 6.1 million people, which is 4.12% more than in 2023. Kazan International Airport named after G. Tukai has become a key hub that has served more than 5 million passengers on 82 routes.
New flights were opened during the year, including the first direct scheduled flight to China by China Eastern Airlines Shanghai – Kazan. Armenian Airlines has opened flights to Yerevan. Tatarstan airline YUVT AERO has started flights to Tashkent. Flights to Batumi by Red Wings Airline have been resumed.
A special role in the development of the route network of Kazan airport is played by the airline "North Wind", one of its base carriers. In 2024, the company increased the number of flights by 17% and expanded its flight network to 24 destinations, adding important routes such as Kemerovo, Ufa, Ulan-Ude, Volgograd and Yakutsk. In 2025, it is planned to open new destinations – Orenburg and Astrakhan, as well as increase the frequency of flights from Kazan to Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk and Sochi, and flights to Barnaul, Volgograd, Murmansk and Ulan-Ude will become year-round.
In 2024, the budget of the Republic of Tatarstan subsidized 34 routes to support air traffic. For 2025, support has been maintained for 34 routes, including 26 destinations from Kazan, 3 from Nizhnekamsk and 5 from Bugulma, which indicates the development of aviation accessibility in the region and the expansion of the geography of flights from various airports in the country. A further increase in passenger traffic is expected, as one of the key factors contributing to the growth of the tourist flow and the development of the industry within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality".
