Within the framework of the Great Volga Way project, interregional river transportation on meteors and valdais is actively developing. In 2024, high-speed river transport has already connected Kazan, Cheboksary, Ulyanovsk and Nizhny Novgorod. And from July 18, 2024, new routes will open on the route "Nizhny Novgorod – Cheboksary – Kazan – Yelabuga – Sarapul".
Transportation will be carried out by Vodolet LLC on a modern high-speed underwater plug vessel Meteor, once a week.
Thanks to the new route, residents of Tatarstan will be able to discover new destinations for recreation and travel to Sarapul.
Sarapul is a river gate, beyond which the whole of Udmurtia opens. From Sarapul, you can go to Votkinsk, the birthplace of the great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky, to Izhevsk, the armory capital of Russia, as well as to the protected Udmurt village of Karamas–Pelga, where authentic rites and rituals of the pre-Christian era are held for guests.
For passengers of the first flights as Kazan-Sarapul and Sarapul-Kazan, the river trip will be complemented by a free excursion program. In Sarapul, tourists will walk through the streets that preserve the spirit of the pre-revolutionary era, visit the "Bashenin's Cottage", where merchant culture is recreated, or the Local History Museum accompanied by an experienced guide, and in Kazan they will get acquainted with the UNESCO World Heritage site Kazan Kremlin and the famous pedestrian Bauman Street.
Trip dates from Kazan to Sarapul: July 18, July 25, August 1, August 8, August 15, August 22, August 29, September 5. Detailed information about trips to Sarapul can be found on the website: https://vodoletnn.ru /.
