The capital of Tatarstan was chosen as one of the top three popular cities for New Year Holidays in Russia. The list, with top two being Moscow and Saint Petersburg, is based on hotel and apartment booking data from December 31 to January 8.

‘The occupancy of Kazan hotels on New Year’s Eve was estimated at 70%, and from January 3 to 6 at 80’.

The main tourist traffic, coming to Kazan for New Year Holidays, consists of tourists from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, as well as Mari El, Udmurtia and the Ulyanovsk Oblast.

According to the terms of the anticorruption movement and the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, it is not allowed to give presents to persons substituting government and municipal jobs, employees of certain organizations, and to take presents by these persons due to their duty performance.

Taking the present by appropriate party is the violation of prohibition, enables the conflict of interests, calls into question the objectivity of his decisions, and it is punishable by law, as strong as getting fired in view of the loss of confidence, and in cases when the gift is qualified as the kickback – it is the criminal liability.

On December 16, 2016, the Hall of Columns of the Kazan City Hall will be hosting the award ceremony of the ‘Leaders of Tourism’ Republican Contest. The ceremonial event will take place with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, I. Khalikov.

The event will also feature tourist industry enterprises (tourist organizations of Tatarstan), museums and reserve museums of Tatarstan, educational institutions in the field of tourism, representatives of municipal structures, organizations of tourism infrastructure (hotels, entertainment centers, food and beverage outlets).

The annual Republican Contest on the field of tourism was initiated in 2001 and used to be titled ‘Tourism – 21stcentury’. Starting from 2016, it will be carried out under the name ‘Leader of Tourism’.

Aidar Khasanov, the principal advisor of the Department of Tourist Product Promotion in the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, was announced the winner of the III Republican Contest ‘The Best State Civil Employee of the Republic of Tatarstan’ in the ‘Social Administration’ nomination. The ‘The Best State Civil Employee of the Republic of Tatarstan’ contest is aimed to acknowledge and encourage the best representatives of the state administration, as well as bring an additional motivation in public services

From the 24th of December till the 7th of January the New Year trade fair will be held in Staro-Tatarskaya suburb. Natives of Kazan will be able to take a part in traditional folk festivals and to toboggan tackling up. For the visitors there will be chutes, musical rinks, workshops of New Year gifts and crafts. There is  a photographic studio at the trade fair territory, for all those who wish   to take a photo with Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost, Santa Claus) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden). Besides, you can buy souvenirs in different New Year shops and enjoy yourself with Tatar Cookery dishes. 

The historic reenactment complex “Lenivyi Torzhok” on the isle-city Sviyazhsk invites you to the New Year interactive program “Story about Nikita the Strelec (Rifleman) and Czarina Suyumbike”. This is the fabulous show in which the participants are all spectators (nobody excepted!), heroic duel; fairy relay-race; hopping over the big skipping rope; tug’o war; team game “The capture of enemy flag”; warming meal (tea, gingerbreads); contest games and puzzles; archery and shooting from the crossbow; flying on the brushes; fire-show (in the night time program on the 1st, 2nd and 7th of January).

The program will take place from the 1st till the 10th of January (at 11.00, 13.00, 14.30 and 16.00 o’clock).

The most popular destinations for the New Year holidays among the Russian tourists became Moscow, Moscow regions, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. Children, together, with Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) will go on a magical journey to return Batyr.

Tomorrow, on the 3rd of December, the “Residence of Kysh Babai and Kar Kyzy” is opening its doors again in the Yana Kyrlai village of the Arsc district.  The Residence is situated in a fairy fir-forest by the side of Iya river in Yana Kyrlay village in 80 kilometers from Kazan. On the beginning of the journey you are met by Shaitan in the forest customs office, who guides you to the acres of Kysh Babay. The map of Shurale helps you to reach Kysh Babay’s house. Many adventures will be waiting for you on your way  - old tales, difficult tasks, magic and miracles, and fairy heroes: Shuraleh – the old hand of all forest roads and paths (The wood spirit), friendly and kind Shaitan (Devil), merry Ubyrly Karchyk (Baba Yaga), ancient Azhdaha (Zmei Gorynych), strong and brave Batyr (the Hero), beautiful Altyncheh (Goldilocks), Tahir and Zuhra in love (Romeo and Juliet). They will entertain you with different tests. The Residence will be opened for visitors till January 25th.

The presentation of Russian cities, receiving the Confederation Cups games in 2017, took place at the “El Palace” hotel in Barcelona in November, 30. The event was organized by FSUE “National marketing center of tourism”, in particular by the Spanish office “Visit Russia”. The special guest was the General Consul of Russian Federation in Barcelona – Klimenko Yurii Nikolaevich.
