The online voting for Bank of Russia new banknote characters is completed. In the last days of hot contest Kazan and Sevastopol got the upper hand in the league table at the site “tvoyarossiya.rf”.

The capital of Tatarstan with Kazan Kremlin and Kazan Federal University characters is second with 421 748 votes. Sevastopol topped the popular support ranking with the result of 428 718 votes.

Today at 19 p.m. on “Russia 1” TV live channel the Russians will have the last opportunity to change the final result of the votes by sending SMS messages, afterwards will be announced cities and characters which Central Bank will use on banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles nominal values.

The Republic of Tatarstan State Tourism Committee Vice-Chairwoman, Yekaterina Barabanova, has attended the concert marking the Day of Elderly People where she gave the speech of welcome. In the speech addressed to the guests of the event, she noted the gravity of such occasions: “The Day of Elderly People is very important holiday, thanks to it we have the opportunity to show our gratitude to grandparents one more time and tell them “Thank you" for all that they have done for us and continue to do. And most important, that all of them be healthy”.

Regional creative teams, children's dance troupe and vocal group took part in this concert.

On the International Tourism Day, September 27, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation held a ceremony of departmental awards for the contribution to the industry. The Chairman of State Committee on Tourism of Republic of Tatarstan Sergey Ivanov was awarded with the gratitude for the development of domestic and inbound tourism.

The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Tourism Ekaterina Barabanova has met a delegation from the Irkutsk region, which are in Tatarstan from 26 to 30 September. The meeting was held to study the experience of the Republic of Tatarstan in the extension of the territory in the field of tourism

Various issues related to tourism in the republic were discussed at the meeting. The presentation was held for the guests, there was a detailed account of the major tourist centers such as Sviyazhsk, Bolgar, Elabuga, Tetyushi, Chistopol and, of course, Kazan. After the presentation, the guests had the opportunity to ask questions to representatives of the committee.

The representatives of the Irkutsk region, during their stay in Tatarstan, will get themselves familiar with to Bolgar, Sviyazhsk and Kazan landmarks.

On October 6-7, 2016 in the Republic of Kazakhstan Shymkent city will host the International Tourism Forum “ONTUSTIKTOURISM-2016” and the International Fair “SILKWAYTOURISMFAIR”.

“ONTUSTIKTOURISM - 2016” (hereinafter - the Forum) will become a dialogue platform for meetings and negotiations between representatives of government, business, academic community, mass media and NGOs on the development of the tourism industry on the Silk Road under the auspices of international organizations such as the UNESCO (International organization of the United Nations concerning the education, culture and science) WorldTourismOrganization (World Tourism organization), TurkicCouncil (Turkic Council) and the Shanghai cooperation organization.

The State Budget Institution “Centre of folk arts and crafts of the Republic of Tatarstan” and the Chamber of Crafts of the Republic of Tatarstan invites everyone to participate in the contest “Touristic Souvenir of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

The Contest accepts the author’s goods, no more than 10 units from each applicant, which were made during last 2 years.

The Contest winners in each category will be awarded with cash prizes in the amount of 50 000 rubles, and the handiwork will get the status of the “Best Tourist Souvenir of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

Today, on the second day of the International Tourism Exhibition “Leisure” the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Tourism has conducted negotiations with representatives of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the “Russian Railways Tour” company. The theme of the meeting is the discussion of the starting up of mutual tourist trains between Kazan and Ufa, planned in 2017. Work on discussing this project has been started at the moment. In case of its successful realization the residents of Kazan and Ufa will have the opportunity to visit the capital of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan on direct trains for the weekend. The trains starting up will be preceded by the mutual advertising campaign. A trilateral Agreement of intent on this project execution has been signed during the meeting.

The first stage of the annual meeting on the coordination of timetables for passenger vessels for navigation in 2017 started on September 17. It started on board of “Vladimir Mayakovsky”, which left the port of Perm city with the tour operators of sea cruises in Russia. Kazan, the call in which was carried out on September 20, has become one of the cities, included in the list of visited. As part of their visit, a round table was held in the Executive Committee of Kazan. It was attended by Vice-President of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Ekaterina Balabanova. The main topic of discussion was the inclusion of such tourist sites as Bolgar, Chistopol and Sviyazhsk in the list of places to visit in the framework of sea cruises of Russian tour operators.
