According to the results of 2017, Tatarstan was included in the top 10 most popular tourist Russian regions. This is evidenced by the data of the analytical agency "TurStat."

According to the agency, last year, Tatarstan was visited by 3.1 million tourists, which shows an increase of 7% compared to 2016.

From February 15th to February 17th, representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on tourism together with the staff of the Kazan Arena stadium presented the tourist potential of the region and the city of Kazan at the exhibition called Travel and Tourism Pioneers Forum 2018 in Saudi Arabia in the city of Riyadh.

The Republic of Tatarstan was represented on a separate stand, where the distribution of information products was arranged for the exhibition participants along with the presentation of new videos concerning the sights of Tatarstan in the format of 360 degrees. The stand guests could see Kazan, Velikiy Bolgar, and the Sviyazhsk Island-City with a bird's eye view, as well as get virtual reality gift cards "cardboard."

This year is the third year of the Strategy-2030 of Tatarstan, which we all developed together. According to the Act on the Approval of the Strategy ( No. 40-ZRT as of June 17th, 2015), it is amended once every 3 years, when necessary.

In accordance with the instruction of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, the work is underway to amend the Strategy-2030. First of all, it must comply with the Development Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2035, as well as take into account the emerging technologies of the developing digital economy.

The III Regional Tourist Forum was opened in Kazan, which was organized by the Intourist tour operator with the assistance of the Federal Agency for Tourism and the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan. The meeting of the Community Council of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Tourism, which was held on February 8th, 2018, considered the results of the implementation of the anti-corruption program of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan on Tourism for 2015-2020 in 2017. On February 8th, the State Committee held a working conference to discuss the state regulation of prices for hotel services in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation as of February 10th, 2016 No. 89. With the participation of representatives of Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) and the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan, the conference members discussed the legal aspects of monitoring and control over the compliance with hotel prices during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Particular attention was paid to the inflated prices (compared to the low season) for apartments and suites of rooms. The conference participants decided to carefully monitor the activities of the accommodation facilities of natural persons and self-employed entrepreneurs leasing apartments on the part of law enforcement agencies, including tax agencies and police.

Yesterday, the Hotel Shopping and Entertainment Center "Korston-Kazan" finished holding the two-day conference "Security in Accommodation Facilities: Everything Is Clear, But There Are Many Questions," which was organized by the Association of Hotels in Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan together with the Information and Exhibition Project "HOTEL EXPO." Managers and owners of hotels, hostels, health resorts, restaurants, sanitation physicians, professors of profession-oriented specialties, heads of security services, reception and accommodation of hotels, as well as nutrition managers (F&B) from Kazan, Moscow, Ulyanovsk, and other Russian cities came to discuss with subject matter experts and government officials important and controversial issues concerning security in accommodation facilities during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
